As a croat i fully understand, that is just lack of respect and cheepnes of Corporations. Long story short you need to make them respect you, they need to know its not okay.

I know it really isn’t related at all but Slovenia’s Eurovision song was absolutely amazing. Do you have any thoughts on it?

Slovenia rocks. Anyone who hasn't been there should do so asap. I can recommend the burgers from the guy in the little trailer at Maribor railway station, and the nectarines!! Also, I owe Slovenia railways money. That was the only country where my rail pass was accepted without question. Only later did I read the small print and realise that Slovenia was the only country the ticket wasn't valid. Sorry Slovenia, next time I'll pay double.

From my experience if you like any of the Slovenian artist you are lame which is such a shame because we do indeed have some good original artists that you shouldn't like because you are lame if you do (I remember being the only person that loved Društvo mrtvih pesnikov when I was in high school and everybody poked fun at me because I wasn't cool and I wasn't listening to foreign music only .-.")

I don't hate other country, buuuuuuuut… yeah sounds like proto-fascism to me, but ok. let's call it patriotism.

first of all your comment section is pure cancer. full of hatred. and lemme teach you little bit about the history. we've been living with croatians, serbs, bosniaks, macedonians for almost 100 years and if it weren't for yugoslavia, then we wouldn't exist as a nation, because neighbouring countries, like austria, hungary and italy would annex our territories and they would start with their policy of assimilation, as the italy and austria did after the first world war (carinthia and julijska krajina). because this was just "patriotism" and "patriotism" can't do any harm to other minorities, right? and now somehow, we are endangered by croatian, bosnian and serbian culture reeee-eeee-ee *please insert patrotism*.

you do not have to show overtly patriotism to be patriotic , come to the UK and see. We regards the USA type of outgoing patriotism as a sign in insecurity

    May 20, 2018 at 7:43 pm

That is result of globalization, and all typical Slovenian thins that you talk about where created in an other time, things today work differently, and many nations have similar problem, dont know if patriotism would fix anything there, if you go further you end up with nationalism and problems like other former Yugoslav republics have, and that you dont want 🙂

Meh, Croatia is represented by Neno Belan, a fine songwriter who combines pop and rock music with local musical styles of Croatian littoral. Serbia and Bosnia on the other hand with the Turco-Arabic music stars who are the part of larger project of re-Ottomanization the Balkans. You won't find a better sign of new wars coming to Balkans. And you Slovenes, get ready for a new wave of čefurji.

Hey Barbara. I-m from not much bigger country (Portugal) and we got through something similar after the dictatorship. Sure we probably had more "past victories" to celebrate, but at one point we were really poor (we're still quite poor though) and nothing really motivated us and our culture was put in a lower urgency level. Maybe Slovenia is going through a similar phase too?
It's like that saying you have to find love within you to be happy and it's not an easy task, but as long as people like you go out there and make other people see that you actually are valuable to your country, the people there actually realise they can achieve what they dream of.
BTW you're country is really beautiful, that is something any Slovenian has got to be proud of and I imagine you being always very nostalgic of coming back there!!
