I won't spoil anything, but you should completely erase this episode from your memory. There are continuity issues where it breaks the worldbuilding in terms of alchemy and isnt consistent with the characterization both in the past and further down the line. Any FMA 03 fan would tell you to skip it normally for those reasons, but I know you want the full experience.

A question are you planning on watching the movie after the show?

This is considered the Worst Episode of FMA Filler for manga story and the FMA2003 story completely pointless and badly animated. Glad the rest of the series isnt like this episode.

My favourite part of the episode is 12:46 when the music suddenly changes. That is a great use of music. It completely instantly alters the scene.

Congrats! You just got through the worst episode of the 2003 series (~˘▾˘)~

I quite hope this doesn't qualify as a spoiler, but your mind's on the right track in considering your lingering concern. Hope you're watching/listening to the credits, Indelible Sin might be my favorite FMA credits song.

So fun fact: The scene where Majahal and Edward have their brief bout was animated by Hiroyuki Imaishi.
Yes, THAT Hiroyuki Imaishi.

Fun fact: Kent Williams, who voiced Majihal, went on to voice the main antagonist of Brotherhood. I'd say that's a pretty nice upgrade.

You should totally watch the movie that takes place after the 2003 ending. The Conquerer of Shamballa is a continuation of Fullmetal Alchemist’s story past the 2003 ending. You could watch it in multiple parts to avoid copyright strikes n whatnot and to avoid loooong videos. Idk just a suggestion and idea ://

People love to proclaim their "purests" and trash this episode for being "non-can' filler" but it's a beautifully sad story with an important lesson. Becoming obsessed with your ideal of what someone or something "should be" you may lose sight of something magnificent right before your eyes… much like this series. Some want it to be nothing more than a copy and paste of the Manga and because it's not they end up skipping it all together and missing out on something truly wonderful in its own way.

I always thought this episode was interesting especially for its time. I wouldn't have skipped this episode even tho you technically could have? but I thought this was a very decent episode. I am very excided to see your reaction to the rest of the series, it's going to kill me to wait for each episode.

I couldn't have described the idea of fillers any better! What you said is exactly how I feel. If you are truly a fan of the show, then why complain about fillers? You're getting a few extra episodes of a show that you love and it's something new and refreshing! There's no need for all the hate.

That ending with Majihal refusing to accept her without her beauty is just heartbreaking…I completely forgot about that part of this episode.

It's so weird to see people recommend Conqueror of Shamballa, the FMA 03 movie. I get it, it "finishes" the story of FMA 03 but for me it wasn't worth it. The creators had material to make an entire season but they had to squeeze it into a single movie, making a sloppy and inconsistent product. The ending of the series without the movie is much, much better.
Also, I seriously doubt Laurelei should do a reaction to said movie or to any movie (hasn't she already said she's not gonna do that?), for obvious copyright reasons. Maybe a review, if she really wants to see the movie and has thoughts about it.

While this story… sort-of makes sense, considering soul bonding is something you can actually DO in this universe… it also doesn't. Don't get me wrong, the idea of an obsessed man who tried to re-create his lost love (and solely focused on beauty rather than what was within) is actually rather interesting. It's just, considering how much the Elric brothers paid for a mere attempt of resurrecting their mother – with "perfect" calculations, nonetheless… How the hell is that guy still in one piece??

Forget this episode. Its a completely filler episode, and just fucks up the rest of the story and the story of Alchemy and all.

Huh, I'm glad I didn't have any external input when I first watched it. It was a bit rushed but I liked the story told here and I'm glad you enjoyed it as well.
