BIGGEST Machines in the World

The machine industry came about during the Industrial Revolution, which began around 1760 until somewhere between 1820 and 1840. You would have seen iron foundries, massive ship yards, forges and repair shops. Machines of course existed prior to that, but on a much smaller scale. Now we have a machine for every type of job imaginable, and there’s no limit to what we’re able to achieve.

4 – A massive challenge…
Wind Turbines are nothing new, and they are doing so much good for our environment and easing the load on the electricity grid by converting the wind’s kinetic energy into electrical energy. Wind farms have been popping up all over the world, but imagine how hectic it must be to transport each individual blade that measures 148 – feet each! This is off the widely used GE 1.5-megawatt model. Flatbed trailers are used to transport them, and here are a few examples of how they look when being transported in all their glory!

3 – A life-saver…
This is the 1Strata 950 and this machine has saved lives! Remember when there were those 33 Chilean miners trapped during the Chilean mining incident that took place in 2010? Well this machine was the first of 3 drills to begin boring down to create a possible escape route. This 40-ton drilling machine was taken from another site and had to be disassembled and sent to the Copiapó mine. The drill belonged to Murray and Roberts, a South African engineering company, who said they were privileged to have been involved with the rescue operation.

2 – Gone but not forgotten…
This is Overburden Conveyor Bridge F60 which was the world’s biggest movable. In fact there were a series of 5 of these bridges, and their job was to transport the overburden, which is the waste or spoils left over from the mining. This giant has been described as the lying Eiffel tower and was built in Germany in 1991. The weight of this giant piece of machinery is 13,600 metric tons and it was built by VEB TAKRAF Lauchhammer. There are still 4 of these in operation, but the largest one was shut down due to energy-political reasons. One of these conveyer bridges is open to the public.

1 – On the move…
The biggest load to ever be carried on British roads was a power station transformer, which weighed a hefty 640 tons! The load took up 2 lanes and managed to crawl along at 4mph. Something like this has never taken place on UK roads before, and it took 9-months to plan it! The drive brought in dozens of spectators taking images of this unusual activity and posting them online. Overall, the journey was a huge success.

Do these people really think they're being cute with their sexual innuendos and double entendres? I mean, how fucking juvenile: "…mine is bigger than yours" & "…size matters" Those cliches are not just not witty anymore ….they are completely worn out.
