10 Most Dangerous Housing Projects In Queens (New York)

When travelers think of the New York borough of Queens, their minds often picture the colorful skyline of Long Island City. Here, modern-looking high-rise buildings shine their reflections upon the surrounding waters. The Queensboro Bridge offers a quick way into Manhattan, allowing an average of 140 thousand vehicles to pour into the inner city every day.

Most black and hispanics live in the pj's in NYC and its really sad when you have all the opportunities in the world . Immigrants come to ny to make progress. Black men need to stand up and break those mental chains , people are not born criminals . Leave that music industry alone and build a life and a future.

Pomonok is safe as hell, it’s right by a nice college and it’s a college town. Smh nothing ghetto or bad about it. Ravenswood isn’t that bad either smh they actually have police surrounding those buildings daily and growing gardens and fresh fruits lol and Woodside smh that’s a joke, ever heard of gentrification? That’s how it is by Woodside projects, they literally have a Starbucks up the street, gangstas and lattes? Lol

There are lots of Asians in the projects too – all over Flushing from Bland to Pomonok to Lefrak in Corona (not technically NYCHA, but section 8). Also, there are always Asian businesses in every hood in NYC – nails, bodegas, Chinese food etc. The immigrant Asians are often poor, not every Asian American comes from a rich family, many of them are living in poverty.

Growing up in South Jamaica, Queens in early 70's and 80's was crazy. I remember being a little kid in Elementary (P.S. 123) being scared to go to the restrooms because kids were getting beat up and robbed. The corner store by the school was getting robbed almost on a daily basis. People getting jumped for their kicks (shoes). Drugs every where. I use to stay on 115th Dr. and Sutphin blvd. a few blocks from Baisley Park Houses. Wild times.
